Gay Budapest means different things to different people. Our community is diverse, and
there is no better city than Budapest in which to explore the many sides of diversity. We
expect that our guests will have a variety of interests and the following is just a sampling of
the gay and lesbian places and sites you may find interesting:
Gay Budapest has a number of bars and clubs for all tastes and interests. In fact, two
new gay clubs have opened in Budapest over the past year and both are located in our
neighborhood! Alterego Club and Revans Club are popular and both are just a ten
minute walk from us! Budapest also has Candy, traditionally a bi-weekly gay disco
(venues vary) that is friendly, fun and fantastic. If you prefer a bar atmosphere then
check out either Coxx, a gay bar just for men with all the trimmings, Le Cafe M for a more
sedate ambiance, or Cafe Eklektika, a hip lesbian hangout which has relocated to a new
location just five minutes from Kapital Inn.
Budapest has gay saunas and Turkish baths to explore for those needing to satisfy
a more decadent craving. Both Magnum Sauna and Sauna 69 are top-rate choices.
For the brave at heart, Gay Budapest offers Men’s Saunas at a number of the Turkish
baths which are some of the oldest in the world!
We know that often gay and lesbian travellers are interested in more than just the gay
hangouts. Kapital Inn is located close to practically every general tourist must-see
venue. For example, the theatre district is just a five minute walk from Kapital Inn. The
absolutely beautiful Opera House is only a ten minute walk from us. The most famous
selection of restaurants in all of Budapest, located at Liszt Ferenc Square, is a five minute
walk from our inn. And let’s face it, gaying it up would not be complete without a trip to the
largest mall in Central Europe called the “West End”, which is right in our neighborhood!
How was Gay Budapest created? Hungarians are not just tolerant but fiercely
independent and these attributes have helped to make Gay Budapest a thriving
metropolis for our community. Moreover, Budapest is the number one gay destination
in Central and Eastern Europe because our liberal mayor, for all of his faults, has helped
to foster a colorful, safe and diverse gay culture for the last 16 years. And let’s not forget
the added benefit of reasonable prices compared to the other European capitals.
In sum, Budapest is a must see gay destination!
